Process of Buckwheat Flour Milling Facilities

Buckwheat Flour Milling Facilities

Yanagihara offers designs and construction for the purpose of productivity improvement and labor saving, from small-scale flour milling facilities where only one flour mill is installed, to large-scale flour milling plants where more than 20 are deployed.
We deliver a range of equipment according to our customers’ requests, including single-seated and multi-seated units, whole wheat flour milling or high-volume production with large-size rolls, as well as conventional transportation methods using elevating machines/screw conveyors or pneumatic transport (low and high density).

Buckwheat Flour Milling System

Filling and Sorting Process

This process removes large and small impurities and stones mixed in with unpolished buckwheat and polishes the skin to remove dirt. It is also a very important process in terms of reducing the number of bacteria.
The majority of large-scale flour milling facilities use air in large quantities to for careful selection, and using pneumatic transport between equipment.

  • Small-sized sorting machine

  • Sorting machine (Scourer machine)

Decorticating Process

The two methods of removing husks of the unpolished buckwheat are; 1) breaking the husks and separating them, and 2) peeling the husks with as little breakage to the buckwheat as possible (nukimi, marunuki, or round grains). The latter method tends to be more often used these days, but we can propose appropriate technologies and equipment according to your budget and requests.

Flour Milling Process

The final step in the process from unpolished buckwheat to products. To ensure the quality of the products, first impurities and contaminants are removed, then they are stirred, mixed, color matched, and homogenized.

Product Management Process

The flour milling process can be roughly categorized into roll milling and stone milling. In both methods, we deliver reliable technology that has been refined over many years.
